Swimming to Antarctica

To call Lynne Cox "remarkable" would be an understatement. Her unique talents as an ocean swimmer allow her to survive in water cold enough to kill a person. What's more, Cox was determined to swim a mile in the coldest water on earth, in Antarctica. Scott Pelley was there as she attempted this amazing journey.

Brrrr..! For what purpose? Who is going to swim in Antarctic or Arctic waters? It might be helpful to survivors of a ditch in Arctic waters if she learns anything but, brrrr...!

For some people, achieving a feat like this would be downright insane. It's just all over the news that's why it sounds insane. But if it weren't it is probably for her personal fullfillment and that's all there is to it.

Read her book; it's fabulous, and answers so many questions about Lynne and her life swimming. If you have a chance to hear her speak, do that, too. Her drive and heart are truly incredible.
