Some of Mike's Favorite Stories

Mike Wallace has been a "60 Minutes" correspondent since the show premiered on September 24, 1968. When asked to choose some of his favorite interviews from 39 years on the broadcast, it's no surprise he selected three of the most controversial: his 1998 interview with Dr. Jack Kevorkian, his talk in 1979 with actress Vanessa Redgrave and Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whom Wallace interviewed in 2006.

Kevorkian is an outstanding humantiarian in my opinion and I am glad to see he is out of prison.

The state of California should hire Kevorkian to supervise the execution chamber in order to have qualified medical personel on hand as required by the courts. He is an MD and well qualified for that particular job.

I dont see the difference in what some states do with the death penatly then what Kevorkian did to help easy the dieing. I look up to Kevorkian in his past plot to helping those whom needed it.

he shouldn't have been imprisoned in the first place. he was just ending the lives of people who would have died in pain were it not for his help

I used to agree with Dr. Kevorkian and what he was doing and I feel he truly believed he was helping others, but it is truly not our call to make that decision when and where. Personally I still have mixed feelings, but I know that it is up our God, our Lord and Saviour to make those decisions. Yes, it is too hard for us to understand why people have to suffer but it is part of life, no one should Play "GOD" only HE knows when our time will be up and where. It is beyond our own understanding. Keep the Faith, someday all of our questions will be answered.

Dr. Kevorkian in his mind felt he was helping others by speeding thier deaths. However it is not his choice to make. If he feels remorse for what he has done. I am sure God will forgive him.

How insane is a nation that puts up such a fuss over people in vegetative or advanced states of illnesses that will lead to horribly painful deaths when their wish is to end or not prolong their suffering, yet the nanny right wing fundaMENTAList Christian state decides, against their wishes, that they know best and they MUST live, will not let them end their suffering under any circumstance and brand the one person who wants to help them a murderer? Thank God Dr. Kevorkian is free and I hope he continues the fight to allow people to choose their own course of life... and death!

Watching my own child die the slow and painful death of pancreatic cancer, I would have to say that Dr. Kevorkian is a dedicated humanitarian.

compassion sparks great action, tremendous vitality, understood only by those in the know, we critisize and condemn that which we do not have to face or deal with. i'll have you, commenter, really think hard, how you would handle receiving a death illness and prolonged suffering, watching the loss more by more and knowing yet only more, ...after battle after battle, trying, trying, and more trying to get better. have you never had a broken heart and the wisdom that comes long with it? naive and outspoken, you are. Dr. K did not hurt anybody, he helped those in crisis. state condemned itself by locking up a gentle man, i suppose an idiot ignorant damgerous juror did that to him, they knew no better, lord forgive them. i hope they get jail for some inoocent act. i really do. they criminally locked up an innocent man. they deserve jail and suffering, i imagine they will get
