Extraordinary Elephants

Correspondent Bob Simon is wild about elephants. He's been known to travel halfway around the world to do a story about his favorite members of the animal kingdom. Here are two of his favorite pachyderm stories: an amazing elephant orphanage in Kenya and the tale behind the boom in elephant art, that's right, elephant art.

I learned a lot about elephants today. I am going to keep this to share with others. I love elephants, especially the babies.

Once I sold a textile with an elephant on it to a man. He loves elephants and said, "elephants are good people." I knew what he meant. I've never known an elephant but I have noticed how tender they are with each other. South Africa has an overpopulation and some may be killed, though most other African countries have few. They should be kept hungry for a couple of days then offered food while being lead to underpopulated areas.

What is the future plans for this creature? Hard to keep an elephant adult as a pet I would think.... plus, it might outlive you!

I was disappointed that they didn't say why Endololo, the little blind elephant, died... This was a wonderful story though...

I do praise these people. They prefer living in the wild and help abandoned animals to survive. I wish I could also be part of their team =D

Elephants are intelligent. They have a soul. They shouldn't be chained in circuses just for our entertainment.
