A New Kind of Fight

It's been likened to a street corner brawl: two men fighting, very few rules, and the last one standing is the winner. It may be brutal but "Mixed Martial Arts" is also one of the fastest growing sports in America. Scott Pelley talks with the man behind the "Ultimate Fighting Championship" and goes toe-to-toe with some of the top fighters in the sport today.

The people that find this fighting too violent don't understand the strategy that goes into fighting this. I also challenge someone to show me someone who has died in the octagon and how many have died just over the last couple of years in boxing.

Fantastic segment. Stayed very true to the sport. MMA is relatively new so certain parts of the sport are not understood. This episode does good by starting the education process.

Good segment but how could 60 Minutes get the facts wrong about Zuffa and Dana White adding all those rules? Those rules were all in place months and in some cases over five years before Zuffa bought the UFC. How did those mistakes get on national television?

These are real men with a lot of passion. My husband, Brandon Tarn is a MMA fighter and trains 5 days a week in Roseville Ca. We have a ton of respect for this sport... It's fun to watch and gives lots of people in my age group an excuse to gather around the T.V. ( just like the Tyson days)!! Thanks 60 Minutes for educating so many people about this wonderful sport!

IVE BEEN WATCHING UFC SINCE ITS FIRST SEASON WHEN GUYS LIKE TANK ABBOT, DAN SEVERIN, KEN SHAMROCK, AND HOYCE GRACIE WERE PIONEERING THIS SPORT. ALOT OF NEW RULES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED TO PROTECT THE FIGHTERS OVER THE YEARS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A BIG RISK. SOME FANS WHO DIDNT UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF PROTECTING THE FIGHTERS, COMPLAINED THE NEW RULES MADE IT BORING. THE SPORTS STILL ROCKS AND THE FIGHTERS WILL HAVE LONGER CAREERS GIVING US MORE OF WHAT WE TUNE IN FOR. THANK YOU DANA!!!!!!!
