The Pat Tillman Story

Pat Tillman is an American hero. Following the attacks on September 11th, he gave up his NFL career and millions of dollars to join the U.S. Army and fight in the war on terror. When Tillman was killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004, his family was first told it was by enemy fire. But the story didn't hold up, and it was soon revealed Tillman was shot accidentally by his fellow soldiers. His mother, Mary, has written a book about her search for answers in her son's death. Katie Couric has the interview.

He was a great American hero. It was a tragic accident caused by poor leadership. Poor leadership is not limited to the military and is not uncommon. The mother has made sure everyone knows the military lied. Everyone does know the military lied. Pat will continue to be a role model and the ideal but the rest of men will continue to be flawed. That's why we admire him so much.

This guy was indeed an american hero. But this is a war. We all know that the military and the mission they were on lacked some communication. We all know it. This stuff happens in war. We all regret it and wish it never happened. So let it be over. What more is left to say. This is a sad story but there are lots of them like this under this kind of situation...unfortunatly. So let's quit hashing it out and be done with the ranting and raving of "they didn't tell me the truth soon enough"... what? Be done.

He was and is a hero, for those of you who have negative things to say about this young man I hope that you have stood in his shoes or those of his family. I have more than once and don't wish that hell on anyone.
