Gustavo Dudamel

Meet Gustavo Dudamel: he's young, hot and looks more like a rock star than a classical music director! If you think Beethoven is boring, this Venezuelan force of nature might just change your mind. Bob Simon has the story.

Right now, more than ever, Venezuela needs more Gustavos. The country has so much to offer and the world needs to see that it's drowning because of one miserable psychopath.

Here we have a musical force to inspire all in pursuing their dream; there is something to the comparison with the enthusiasm awarded Leonard Bernstein in the 1950s and 1960's. The initiative to foment musical culture among Venezuelans (and other countries) is commendable, as are '60 Minutes' and 'Yahoo' for allowing us to learn and share in the experience. Please do follow ups on Mr. Dudamel's career.

A great talent with a lot of joy and vigor. He pulls you into the music with his intensity. He also moves the musicians and energizes them. His interpretation senses the depth of the music and brings it alive.
