Joel Osteen

He's the most popular preacher in America, with his services attended by thousands and seen by more than 7 million viewers around the world on television each week. But just eight years ago, Joel Osteen was virtually unknown, a college dropout working behind the scenes producing his father's television ministry. Byron Pitts has the story.

Joel Osteen has the ministry of encouragement and the gift to help people feel that God still loves them and has a plan for their lives. He is truly a man of God, but because he isn't packaged like everybody eles in "Christian Land," he is critized alot. I believe he truly loves the Lord and he doing his best to be used of God. After a long hard week, he is a breath of fesh air to listen to, and he helps me to feel the love of God and not the condemnation of God.

Joel Osteen portrays a very uplifting message with his positive attitude. I have enjoyed watching several of his shows but have grown to question him as a preacher. The fact is that the bible needs to be taught. His services lack a certain substance to them. There are hard hitting issues that may be tough to address- but sometimes each and everyone of us needs to hear the message. I understand he doesn't want to be negative, but by staying true to the bible and touching on all the real issues offered, he can still portray a message of hope and prosperity in Christ.

Joel Osteen has the ministry of encouragement and truly loves the Lord. He has a special gift and God is using him in a mighty way in people's lives. He helps people to feel the love of God rather than the condemnation of God. He has truly helped me in many of areas of my life to put things in their proper perspective. Because he doesn't fit the classic mold of other preachers in "Christian Land," he is always being critizied. He does preach the gospel but also gives you practical scriptual advice for daily living.
