Tiger Woods is the type of athlete who comes along not once in a generation, but perhaps once in the history of a sport. For the last decade, he has dominated professional golf so completely that he has changed the game.

- Tiger always wears red on the final day of a tournament because his mom feels it is a powerful color.
- The nickname "Tiger" was given to him by his father, Earl. This is the same nickname Earl gave to a Vietnamese friend and soldier while serving in Vietnam. Tiger's birth name is Eldrick T. Woods.
- At age two, Tiger putted against comedian Bob Hope on the Mike Douglas Show. At age three, Tiger shot a 48 for nine holes.
- On June 15, 1997, at age 21, Tiger became the youngest golfer to be ranked number one.
- After winning the 2005 Open Championship, Tiger became only the second golfer in history, after Jack Nicklaus, to have won all four majors more than once.
- Tiger had one of the most remarkable amateur records in golf history, winning the NCAA title and six USGA national championships before turning pro.
