At one point, his presidential campaign seemed dead in the water. But John McCain never gave up and is now the presumptive Republican nominee for president. Scott Pelley was with McCain the night he clinched the nomination and talks with the candidate about the issues ahead in his run for the White House.
Battleground: Ohio
Voters in Ohio have often played a large part in determining the direction of a presidential race. Ahead of the March 4 primary, Steve Kroft visited Ohio's bellwether town of Chillicothe. He spoke with Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and with voters evenly split between the two.

John McCain

Barack Obama

Kroft challenges Obama on the issues he will have to overcome: his admitted drug use in the past and his relative lack of political experience as he runs for president in 2008.

As the 2008 presidential campaign kicks into high gear, "60 Minutes" presents four of the frontrunners: Barack Obama, John Edwards, John McCain and Mitt Romney, in the order they appeared on the broadcast.
Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney has known success in both the public and private sectors: first, as chairman of a multi-million-dollar investment firm and later as governor of Massachusetts. Now, he wants to be the Republican nominee for president in 2008. His path to the White House faces several hurdles: accusations he has flip-flopped on hot-button issues and voter discomfort about his Mormon faith. Mike Wallace has the interview.

George Tenet
George Tenet spent seven years as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, under both President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush. His critics blame him for failing to stop the 9/11 terror attacks and for providing bad intelligence leading up to the Iraq war. Tenet answers those charges in his new book "At the Center of the Storm: My Years at the CIA." Scott Pelley has the exclusive interview.
